  • History

    Belfast Theatre Company was a professional company financed in part by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Belfast City Council. The company was a winner of a BBC New Drama Award in 1995/1996 and was nominated for several Irish Times and other drama awards. It also won a Pick of the Fringe in Edinburgh 1983 with Shem the Penman.

    The company’s artistic policy was to promote new and innovative drama, especially from Northern Ireland. The company officially ceased operations in 2008.
