Rattlebag Theatre Company was founded by Joe Devlin in 1990 to produce small scale international work. The first half of the 1990s saw the company explore plays that dealt with gender roles, sexuality and mental illness. By the late 1990s the company had expanded into classical theatre, new writing and has developed a policy for experimentation and exploration of a broader theatrical vocabulary to encompass physical, visual and music theatre. The company is committed to producing plays that are relevant and challenging to contemporary audiences.
