Ena May is an actress, writer and director from Dublin. She trained under Deirdre O'Connell at the Stanislavski Studio at the Focus Theatre, Dublin. Since her stage debut in 1974, she has acted in over fifty productions and on radio, TV and film. May began writing in 1984 and has written plays, fiction and TV drama. Plays not listed in the Irish Playography include 'Maria's Claim', written for the Balcony Belles, a community theatre group from Dublin's inner city, with whom she worked for a year. Her collection of short stories, 'A Close Shave with the Devil', was published in 1998, from which her play 'The Red Sandals' is taken.
