EOGHAN Ó TUAIRISC

1919 - 1982

Born in Ballinasloe, Co Galway in 1919. He worked as a primary school teacher until he decided to start writing full-time in 1961. Ó Tuairisc wrote novels, verse, drama and criticism in English and Irish. He learnt a great deal from time spent in the Abbey where he wrote pantomimes and revues in Irish. He also wrote under the English version of his name, Eugene Rutherford Watters.
