Máire Ní Chinnéide

1878 - 1967

Born in Dublin, Máire Ní Chinnéide is best known for having recorded Peig Sayer's life story and published it as an edited volume. She wrote a number of plays including 'An Cochall Draoidheachta'(1938),'Cáit Ní Dhuibhir' (1938) and 'Scéal an Tí'(1953) as well as translations, essays and reviews. A keen sportswoman, she was appointed first President of the Camogie Association of Ireland in 1900.
