    Colours - Jane Barry Esq. is based on the true story of a woman who lived her life as a man. Jane Barry took the name of her father, the Irish artist James Barry. She qualified as a doctor in 1812, went into the British Army and travelled the world, fighting in a duel, having affairs and on one occasion finding herself pregnant.
