    A London financier, Eugene, returns to Ireland to manage his family's estate after the death of his father. Finding it impossible to replicate the no-strings sex life he had in London, he begins sleeping with Serafina, a cleaning woman, and paying her to do so. When he marries the daughter of a local factory owner, he remains tormented by desire for Serafina.
