| Enda Walsh was born in Dublin in 1967 and attended the now legendary Greendale Community School in Kilbarrack. He has written and performed for several theatre companies in Ireland and was a founding member of Corcadorca Theatre Company in 1994, for whom he was also resident playwright. In 1997 his breakthrough play, 'Disco Pigs' won both the Stewart Parker and the George Devine Award.Walsh is also the recipient of the Abbey Theatre Writer in Association Award (2006) and three Edinburgh Fringe Firsts. His work has been translated into several languages, proving especially popular on the German-language stage. Walsh has also written a number of radio plays and screenplays, including 'Disco Pigs' (2001)and the massively acclaimed 'Hunger' (winner of the Caméra d'Or prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008).He lives in London. |
