Sebastian Barry
Born in Dublin in 1955, Sebastian Barry is a playwright, poet and novelist. He won the Costa Book of the Year Award with his novel 'The Secret Scripture' in 2008, and has twice been shortlisted for the Booker prize.Further awards include the BBC/Stewart Parker Award for his 1989 play 'Boss Grady's Boys' and the Christopher Ewart-Biggs Memorial Prize for 'The Stewart of Christendom' in 2005.He has held a number of academic posts and was writer-in-association with the Abbey Theatre from 1989-1990. Barry's novels include 'A Long Long Way' (2005)'The Engine of Owl-Light' (1987), 'Elsewhere'(1985)and 'Annie Dunne' (2002). He has also published several volumes of poetry. He is a member of Aosdána and currently lives in County Wicklow.
