MARINA CARR

1964 -

Marina Carr was raised in County Offaly. She graduated from University College Dublin with a degree in English and Philosophy in 1987. Marina’s plays have been published by Nick Hern Books, The Gallery Press and Faber & Faber and translated into many languages. She was awarded a McCauley Fellowship, the American/Ireland Fund award, the Puterbaugh Fellowship and an E.M. Forster Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Marina has taught at Trinity College Dublin, Willanova University and Princeton University. Works not listed here include a new, contemporary translation of Rigoletto for Opera Theatre Company which toured Ireland in 2015; and an oratorio, Mary Gordon, as part of a commission for Wicklow County Council that brought together choirs from Wicklow with solo singers and the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra in November 2016. She lectures at Dublin City University and is a member of Aosdána.
