DERMOT HEALY

1947 -

Born in Finea, Co Westmeath, in 1947, Healy is the author of the story collection Banished Misfortune (1982), which won two Hennessy Awards and the Tom Gallon Award. His novels include Fighting with Shadows, A Goat's Song, and Sudden Times. Healy has also written a book of memoirs, The Bend for Home, and a poetry collection, The Ballyconnell Colours. He wrote the screenplay for Cathal Black's film Our Boys. He also starred in Nichola Bruce's 2002 film I Could Read the Sky. He is a member of Aosdána and lives in Co Sligo.
