David Johnston teaches at Queen's University Belfast, and is a former Chair of the Lyric Theatre. He is a multi-award winning translator, whose work has been performed throughout the world. His translations and adaptations include Lorca's 'Blood Wedding', Lope de Vega's 'The Gentlemen from Olmedo', 'The Great Pretenders' and 'Madness in Valencia', Valle-Inclan's 'Bohemian Lights' and Calderon's 'The Painter of Dishonour'. He is Professor of Hispanic Studies at Queen's University, Belfast.
