Maeve Ingoldsby

1947 - 2021

Born in Dublin in 1947, Maeve gave up her job as a primary-school teacher to educate her six children. She began writing comedy in 1978 – satirical sketches, parodies and pantomimes in Irish and English. She wrote her first TYA play 'Firestone' for Team Educational Theatre Company in 1990 and went on to write - 'Earwigs', 'The Monkey Puzzle Tree' and 'Out of Line' for the company. Maeve spent ten years as Writer in Residence and then Script Editor with Barnstorm Theatre Company. She also wrote for The Project Arts Centre, The Civic Theatre and Calypso Theatre Company. Maeve wrote seven Gaiety Theatre Pantos, and six pantomimes for The Performing Arts School Galway. She worked extensively in schools, and with youth and adult groups facilitating drama and writing workshops all over Ireland.
