Shan F. Bullock

1865 - 1935

Shan Bullock was born in 1865 in Crom, south Fermanagh, where his father was a steward on the Earl of Erne’s estate. After leaving Farra School, County Westmeath, he went to London where he spent his working life as a civil servant. He is generally noted for his ability to portray both Catholics and Protestants in his novels with sympathy and open-mindedness. Among his numerous books are The Awkward Squads and Other Stories (1893), The Loughsiders (1924), and his autobiography, After Sixty Years (1931).
