    W.F. Casey

  • Setting

    The Town of Baragh

  • Synopsis

A young Dr. Quinn moves into the small Northern town of Baragh. He becomes bored and realises that the only two options for him are drink or marriage. He rejects drink as an answer to his boredom and discusses marriage with his friend James Walsh who has spent time in a seminary. The second act sees Dr. Quinn marry. Walsh, meanwhile, is in love with his wife's sister and so begins to visit Mrs. Quinn in the evenings to discuss his dilemma with her. Gossip ensues and they are believed to be having an affair. Walsh is then forced to propose to Mrs. Quinn's sister to correct the misunderstanding but is rejected. Quinn and his wife agree to leave the town and Walsh ends up drunk in a gutter.
