Séamus Byrne
The action of the play takes place in a shabby third-rate hotel in the suburbs of 1960s Dublin.
The story concerns the inhabitants of a Dublin hotel and in particular the problem of Clare, the parlour maid, who is pregnant by Peter Donegan, the errant son of the proprietress. Vincent, the boot-boy, takes it up on himself to arrange with Mrs. Donegan and the strange Mr. Graham to procure an abortion, which is fixed for the finale.
