An Luch Tuaithe

OVERVIEW

  • Playwright

    Séamus Ó hAodha (1)

  • Synopsis

A combination of the Aesop's Fable of The Mice in the Council, involving efforts to "bell the cat" and the Irish tradition's Pangur Bán. The play is a satire on politics and the snobbery of city people. Cluasach is a country mouse staying in the city for the first time. He experiences the disrespect the city folk have for country folk and he goes to the Dáil for justice. There he finds that everyone is out for themselves and he returns home.
